"GORGEOUS!"

So you really thought that "XXX: 30 Porn-Star Portraits" was a bad idea?

Well guess what?
Things can always get a little worse ...

Click here for the ultimately amazingly "Gorgeous!" fashion story, shot by the (you would have never guessed it) super rebel and visionary
Timothy Greenfield Sanders himself.

When confronted with this highly unusual and shocking concept, NYC fashion photographer Siege was quite stunned at first:

"The portraits are like 1984 Sears portraits!"

and then added:

"That shit is lame. I don't even know why he's working, shooting that style with the fucking MUSLIN background?"

The video reveals this shoot in all it's gorgeousness:

"Our Eyes See!"

In 2001, my friend Brian Buckley handed me one of his Holgaroid photographs of the World Trade Center , a photograph almost too detailed to recognize it right away.

I used to tape photographs like that on my fridge in my East Village apartment in NYC (he'd write a personal note on the back of those photographs to each friend who he gave one to, photographs of all kinds) ... and mine happened to be one of the Twin Towers - but I already had a World Trade Center photo on my fridge that i've taken in 1999 so it ended up in a box with other photos.

This was a month before the Towers fell.

On 9/11 , Brian Buckley's apartment was completely destroyed.

He lived within an arms reach of the Towers (it seemed) , and on that particular morning he was awoken from the bursting windows, woke his 4 rommates and ran for his life on that day.

In 2003 I put all my belongings in my friends storage in NYC, the box with his photograph included and moved to Los Angeles.
In 2004 I shipped the box via Fedex to LA.
Between 2004 and 2006 I moved 6 times or so, maybe 7, and so did the box.

Last night I went through that box labeled "Family Photos".

100's of photographs of people that I don't remember.
40 or so of my family, even teen photos of my 80 year old grandma.
And 25 photographs of myself.

These are all "personal" snap shots, but there are very few personal things that I can relate to, besides me having been there, and not even sure why.

5 years of my life in New York City, and those were all the personal photos of mine while I lived there?
The 30 photographs or so were from the previous 22 years in Germany.

Blanks.
Many of them.
Months that I have no recollection of.

I guess taking photos can be of help if you want to remember your life when you're old or so - in my case, most of those are mostly random snapshots of people I don't know.

Some blanks could be partially filled with the help of that box, but then I've learned that I was hanging out with a stranger or a group of strangers, I'd see :

their faces
them hugging me
them smiling at me
giving me kisses on my cheek

Here and there I'd recognize someone I once slept with or dated, but no idea what his name was but I'm sure he was a cool guy.

A few photos helped me remember where I may have known those people from, but I'd still not know who they were or forgot their names.

So this is what I have : this box, evidence of my existance, my past.

Evidence of how much fun I've had, how wild my life was.
Me hanging with beautiful strangers in beautiful places.
At least that's what this box would appear to be to a stranger, someone who might look through it some day.

I am concluding now, that taking personal photos didn't do for me what they were supposed to do: help me remember, or even re- live the experice.

And then Brian's photograph.
Last night.
In my hands. I felt so happy that I found it, even though i couln't recall having placed that photograph in the box labeled "Family Photos".

I turned it around:

Beatrice,our eyes see!

Well, Brian,
I was taking photos of the wrong things, because I was blind.

I have a little gallery up in NOOVO Magazine today, which is an Italy based fashion e-zine.
You'll find my gallery in the "Talenti Section" under Contemporary Photography.
I found some cool photographers on there, it's definitely worth a peek!
