Tales from the Battlefield

10:30 am.
It's already at 105F , the desert is hot and dusty, and I am seeking shade.
I hear a group of men whisper in arabic, gathered around a small table by a building that has a sign on it that I cannot read.
A few Iraqi men quickly pass by but don't seem to pay much attention to me.
I am sweating.
All of the sudden I hear machine guns fire, followed by chaos.
A group of American soldiers responds quickly and a short but deadly battle begins.
Bang bang.
It's over.
I take another sip out of my water bottle and count the dead bodies.
A few soldiers quickly pull the bodies into a building.
It is silent again.
It's just another day at the Ft Irwin National Training Center in the Mojave desert, where US soldiers prepare for the real war in Iraq.
This New York Times Article will give you a little insight about this place.
I snapped these photos with my friend Steve's Yashica T4.
