The fuzz about Natalia or: "The $2000 an-Hour Woman"

A little less than a year ago the media was all over an unknown girl named Natalia, who gained fame for a scandalous
New York Magazine article titled: "New York's #1 Escort reveals it all".
(I'll try to get a bigger photo of this cover.... if you come across one, please let me know!)
The lengthy article described in every detail Natalias work as an escort and making large amounts of cash for sex, which is obviously illegal in most of the United States.
I wasn't happy when that magazine hit the stands. Natalia had been a very dear friend for over 6 years and I met her in NYC shortly after she moved there to become an actress in 1999.
Like many other girls like her, her path took a different direction. She quickly got herself in a downward spiral with her heroin and cocaine use. The saddest part of it is though, that she is possibly the sweetest girls you could ever come across, with a heart of gold, unlike most other girls in her situation. She's the kind of person who falls in love with people several times a day, and yet her life got so messed up.
Natalia loved the money and the sudden fame. She was suddenly seen on talk shows chatting about her escort "carrer".
Just a few weeks before that magazine hit the stands I spent about a week at her loft in New York and photographed her. The door was constantly ringing and reporters and photographers marched in and out 24/7. Cameras were running documenting her life.
I was a bit sceptical of all that activity. Natalia was not worried about any of this, whatsoever.
Her arrest shortly after her 15 minutes had passed, made the news almost as much as her public confession. The press ripped her into pieces, making fun of her for being so careless.
To most people she was a hooker, to others just another heroin addict.
To me she's a very dear friend and I hope from the bottom of my heart that she'll get on the right track again.

This photo was taken in February 2005 in Los Angeles:
